At 108-68 Roosevelt Avenue, Barone Management is developing the future K-5 elementary school for the third iteration of one of the longest running charter schools in the New York City metropolitan area, Our World Neighborhood Charter School. First opening its doors in 2002, OWN will continue to expand into its new home on Roosevelt Avenue in collaboration with Barone Management. Consisting of approximately 40,000sf, the school will house roughly 486 students and will build upon the foundational models of previous OWN schools. A key aspect of OWN’s success has been its child-centered model of instruction based upon cooperative, active learning, and parent involvement. OWN’s comprehensive and progressive curriculum challenges students and prepares them to not only survive, but to thrive in today’s world. In collaboration with Barone Management, OWN hopes to continue to expand upon its legacy, opening new doors and possibilities for the children of the underserved Corona community.

In addition to the charter school component of this project, the development will feature 6,700sf of retail space located on the ground floor fronting Roosevelt Avenue and positioned directly at the base of the bustling 7 train subway stop. The retail premises is currently leased to Dunkin Donuts and Little Caesars, with additional leasing currently underway for the balance of the space.
