At 108-68 Roosevelt Avenue, Barone Management developed the K-5 elementary school for the third iteration of one of the longest running charter schools in the New York City metropolitan area, Our World Neighborhood Charter School. First opening its doors in 2002, OWN will continue to expand into its new home on Roosevelt Avenue in collaboration with Barone Management. Consisting of approximately 40,000sf, the school holds 500 students at full capacity as OWN continues to expand their schools. A key aspect of OWN’s success has been its child-centered model of instruction based upon cooperative, active learning, and parent involvement. OWN’s comprehensive and progressive curriculum challenges students and prepares them to not only survive, but to thrive in today’s world. In collaboration with Barone Management, OWN hopes to continue to expand upon its legacy, opening new doors and possibilities for the children of the underserved Corona community.

In addition to the charter school component of this project, the development features 6,700sf of retail space located on the ground floor fronting Roosevelt Avenue and positioned directly at the base of the bustling 7 train subway stop. The retail premises is currently leased to Dunkin Donuts, Little Caesars, and a Gourmet Deli.
